Meryl Davis and Charlie White: The 2010 Olympic silver medalists dominated the ice dancing world in 2011, winning every event they competed in, including the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo. They became the first U.S. team to win the world title in ice dancing. The duo also won the 2011 ISU Grand Prix Final, during which it beat Canadian rival and Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, their training partners and great rivals.
Davis and White are USA TODAY's Olympic Athletes of the Week. Davis and White, the current world champions, skated an almost flawless short dance and took a .05-point lead in the free dance to beat Virtue and Moir, the 2010 Olympic gold medalists, 188.55 points to 183.34 points.
"The closeness of the points was will drive us even more," said Davis. "We work very hard every day but having Scott and Tessa there right next to us pushes us that much more."
Just to state the obvious, but I'm so proud to be their fan! Hope they, their families, and all you fans out there have a happy holiday season!
